For one thing, certain printer manufacturers, such as HP, caution against using
printer switches while the power is on.
But the main reason not to use a switch, is because the dongle is supposed to be a
pass-thru device, and Newtek says it should work. No place in the documentation is
there a warning that some products might be incompatible with the dongle, nor is
there a trouble-shooting section that addresses that problem.
On the Amiga, Newtek at least gave you the option of allowing them to steal your
computer for Toaster/Flyer/Lightwave use, if you had no other use for it. In the
PC world, all we get is a bunch of waving and pointing fingers, saying it's
somebody elses fault, and as usual, the user pays in lost productivity.
